2018 MARYLAND State Thespian Festival

Cost: $85 per student / $35 per chaperone / $30 per troupe director.
Please note that additional costs apply. Parking Passes and hotel accommodations are not included in the Festival Registration Cost.

Last year, the Maryland State Thespian Festival brought together 35 high schools from across the state for a two-day long festival honoring student achievement in theatre. Packed with workshops led by industry leaders, over 20 one-act performances, individual event competitions, and college auditions, it's your students' chance to take center stage, develop their craft and take hold of their future!

REGISTRATION:
Registration for the 2018 Maryland State Thespian Festival has closed. You can access your existing registration here

Festival Registration Deadline: November 1, 2017
Late Festival Registration: November 2 - 15, 2017 - Please note an additional $125 fee is assessed for late registration. Late registrants will not be able to order T-Shirts and may not be able to register for additional events.

Registration for festival takes place online. Payment must be mailed after submitting registration to:

ADDITIONAL FESTIVAL COSTS:

One Act Festival - $150 per school
Senior Scholarships - $25 per student
College Auditions - $15 per student
Trash Costumes - $15 per school (limit 1 team of 4 participants)
Tech Challenge - $25 per school (limit 1 team from 2-8 participants)
All State Thespian Application - $15 per student
Individual Events  - $15 per person, per event / two (2) event limit.
Group Acting - $45 per group
Group Musical Theatre - $45 per group

 

PLEASE NOTE: Only Troupe Directors and/or school faculty and staff may register for the 2018 Maryland State Thespian Festival. Information collected during this process is private and confidential. Allowing students to access this information places both you, your institution and Maryland Thespians at legal risk.

BECOME AN HONOR TROUPE

The Honor Troupe distinction recognizes troupes with tremendous achievements both within their school and their community and who maintain a high level of excellence, both on and off stage. There is no limit to the number of troupes that can apply each year.

The application process includes submission of a portfolio highlighting the positive impact your troupe has made within their school and local community. Portfolios will be submitted online and reviewed by the Maryland Thespians Board of Directors and awards will be presented at the State Thespian Festival held at Towson University. A certificate will be given to each school along with a letter addressed to their principal celebrating this monumental achievement. A plaque may be ordered as well to commemorate the occasion.

Honor Troupe applications should highlight work and achievements made in the last completed academic school year. All applications must be received by December 1, 2017. 



 

CAMP THESPIS

Camp Thespis, a leadership camp for your Thespian Troupe Officers, provides a three day long retreat designed to train troupe officers in how to effectively lead a troupe towards development and sustained growth. Through S.M.A.R.T. goals training, advocacy education, team building, professionally led workshops, and many other leadership activities, Camp Thespis is an invaluable experience for your student leaders. Space is limited and we are asking that Troupe Directors select two officers to attend camp. A wait list will be available should registered students not be able to attend. Once determined, the all inclusive price will include all meals, snacks, beverages, lodging, leadership manual, workshops, camp fire, s'mores, an obstacle course, and more!
