Maryland Thespians, the state chapter of the International Thespian Society, governed by the Educational Theatre Association, is dedicated to serving middle and high school theatre programs across the state. The International Thespian Society is a non-profit, tax-exempt international honorary organization committed to the advancement of educational theatre for both middle and high school theatre students. Maryland Thespians produce the Annual Maryland State Thespian Festival, a two-day long festival packed with workshops led by industry professionals, one act performances, individual competitive events, provides college scholarship opportunities for students and professional development for educators. Supported by a State Board of Directors with a love and passion for educational theatre. These dedicated, volunteer administrators have an extensive expertise in both the theatre arts and the field of education.

Sean Elias

Sean Elias is a Tony Award nominated educator and an award-winning actor and director currently serving as both the Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer of Baltimore's Iron Crow Theatre and as Head of the Theatre Department at The Jemicy School, a private school serving students with dyslexia and other language based learning differences.

CHARLES JOHNSON

Charles Johnson is currently the choir director at Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland. Prior to that, Charles was the theatre teacher at Bullis for eight years. He has worked as a Music Director for numerous companies including Stagedoor Manor, The Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, and The Maryland Ensemble Theatre. He was recently nominated for the Helen Hayes Best Musical Director award.

Heather mcfadden

Heather Mcfadden holds a B.A. in Drama from Edinboro University of PA. She has taught theatre in Frederick County Public Schools since 2008. Prior to teaching, Heather worked as a Props Run Crew Head at The Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT, and ASM/Props Head for Phoenix Productions’ Korean tour of Fame: The Musical. Additionally, Heather has worked as a stage technician at the Weinberg Center in Frederick, MD and overhire for IATSI Local 19 in Baltimore.

AMBER PERKINS

Amber Clair Perkins has taught English and Theatre since 2001, and directed Perspectives, the Paint Branch High School Drama Club since 2004. A 1998 graduate in Theatre Arts from Point Park University and 2016 Master of Theatre Production and Design graduate from Southern Oregon University, Amber joined the Maryland Thespian Board in 2013.
