2020 MARYLAND State Thespian Festival

The 2020 Maryland State Thespian Festival is set to bring together over 30 high schools from across the state for a two-day long festival honoring student achievement in theatre. Packed with workshops led by industry leaders, 20 one-act performances, individual event competitions, and college auditions, it's your students' chance to take center stage, develop their craft and take hold of their future!


Festival Registration Deadline: November 1, 2019
Late Festival Registration: November 2 - 8, 2019
Please note any registration submitted between November 2, 2019 and November 8, 2019 will incur a non-refundable, non-negotiable $125 late registration fee. Late registrants may not be able to order T-Shirts and/or register for additional festival events.

2020 Registration Fees:
Please note: Shuttle service is no longer available and hotel accommodations are not included in the Festival Registration fee.

Inducted Thespians: $90
Non-Inducted Thespians: $95
Troupe Directors: $30
Chaperones: $35

2020 Festival Event Costs:

One Act Festival - $150 per school
Senior Scholarships - $30 per student
College Auditions - $25 per student
Trash Costumes - $25 per school (limit 1 team of 4 participants)
Tech Challenge - $25 per school (limit 1 team from 2-8 participants)
All State Thespian Application - $20 per student
International Thespian Excellence Awards  - $20 per person, per event / two (2) event limit.
Group Acting - $45 per group
Group Musical Theatre - $45 per group

Late Registration Fee: $125

Registration Change Fee: $35 (assessed per student, per event).

Festival parking & shuttle Passes

Parking: All vehicles will have to pay a $10 parking fee for Friday only. We will need to provide your pass for you. Please make sure you order your pass through the registration system. Under registration, click on Services and click on Bus/Vehicle Parking. The parking pass will be added to your shopping cart. You will pick up your bus parking permit at registration on Friday morning.

Shuttle Passes: There is an $11 per person charge for each weekend shuttle pass. Shuttles will run from Towson University on Friday night and to Towson University on Saturday morning from the Baltimore Sheraton North or Holiday Inn Express (Towson). You must have a shuttle pass to board the shuttles. Please order your shuttle passes through the registration system. Under registration, click on Services and click on Shuttle Bus Pass. Add the appropriate number of passes for all of you students, chaperones, and yourself. The shuttle passes will be added to your shopping cart. You will pick up your shuttle passes at registration on Friday morning.

Festival Forms

Adult Background Check
Continuing this year and required of all adult participants, a background check is required and facilitated online by Trak-1. You can begin your background check online here.

Adult & Student Health & Consent Form
All participants, including Troupe Directors and chaperones, must complete a Health and Consent Form in order to attend festival. You MUST provide a signed copy from each participant in your group (including Troupe Directors and chaperones) at check in. In addition, each participant MUST carry a copy of their Health & Consent form in their badge holder in case of an emergency. Participants who have not turned in their Health & Consent form will be denied accaess to festival until a signed and completed form is produced and turned in. Download the form here.

Remember: Only Troupe Directors and/or school faculty and staff may register for the 2020 Maryland State Thespian Festival. Information collected during this process is private and confidential. When registering all parties must use their school/county/official email address and not a personal email address. Allowing students to access this information places both you, your institution and Maryland Thespians at legal risk.
