DIGITAL SUBMISSION BEST PRACTICES
VIDEO SUBMISSION REMINDERS & RECOMMENDATIONS
The following guidelines are intended to help you present yourself in the most effective and professional manner. All students should try to adhere as closely as possible to the following recommendations.
Film in a location that is inside, quiet, has a neutral background, and that is well-lit.
Film full body (preferably head-to-toe, but at least head-to-knee).
Dress appropriately. Wear clothing that is simple and will allow for easy movement. Costumes are not permitted. Avoid bright colored and heavily patterned clothing options.
You may use a chair if needed. You may not use additional set pieces or props.
Slate as you would for a Thespy (Individual Event). Introduce yourself by name. For performance based auditions introduce the audition piece(s) by title of show followed by the author, lyricist, and/or composer.
For tech presentations introduce yourself by name then state what type of portfolio you will be presenting and the name of the production.
Accompaniment to musical theatre auditions may only contain instrumentation.
Performances must be shot in one single take. No professional editing/cutting.
Stay within time limit of your chosen category after the slate.
